Wellington Outreach & Inreach Activities

The Wellington congregation of Worldwide Church of God are involved in a number of service and outreach activities.  These are listed below.

Small Groups

The Worldwide Church of God supports the forming of small groups in which groups of friends meet on a regular basis (usually weekly or fortnightly) for the uplifting, encouraging and training of its members.  At the present time the following small groups are operating:

Children’s Church

Children are incorporated in the worship of the church in appropriate ways.  During the sermon time they retire to another room for more targeted teaching.  On occasion the children will display what they have done, present a short play, etc. at the close of services.

The co-ordinator of the children’s group is Jocelyn Best (Ph. 589-1399).

Prison Fellowship

The Wellington congregation actively support the work of Prison Fellowship and participate in their work. Currently we have one representative assisting in the men’s prison at Rimutaka and two at the women’s prison at Arohata.  For more information on the work of Prison Fellowship, click on the link.

Drug-ARM

We have members currently involved in Drug-ARM, a non-denominational Christian street van ministry which promotes a healthy lifestyle free from drug and alcohol abuse and encourages people to make good choices in their lives.  They provide hot drinks and food and a friendly, listening ear to people in the Hutt Valley, Wellington and Porirua on Friday and Saturday nights.  For more information on the work of Drug Arm, click on the link.

Care of the Elderly

Serveral of our older members are involved in care of the elderly, in Age Concern or Meals on Wheels.  The church has co-ordinated the Meals on Wheels service to the western suburbs since 2005.
