How to get to Waikanae
Waikanae can be reached by road and rail.  Air travelers will need to connect from Wellington to Waikanae either by road or rail link.

AIR: Waikanae cannot be accessed by air through any of the larger airlines, hence visitors will typically fly first to Wellington.  It is suggested travellers use the Airport Flyer bus to the Trans Metro rail terminus, take a railcar to Waikanae, then a taxi from the rail station to El Rancho (4km).  (Note that SuperGold card holders travel free between 9.00-3.00pm, after 6.30pm, weekends and public holidays.)  Alternatively, shuttles run from the airport to Waikanae and will deliver to the camp but these should be arranged prior to arrival. 
Airport Flyer bus:  Leaves every 15 minutes.  Fares: Adults $8.50, Children (5-15) $5.00.
Trans Metro rail:   Leaves every half hour.  Fares: Adults $11.50, Children (5-15) $6.00.
Shuttles options:  Super Shuttles, Kapiti Shuttles or check the Finda site for more options.
Waikanae taxis:  Paraparaumu Taxis - (04) 296 1111; Sunshine Taxis - (04) 297 3181.
 ROAD: If travelling by car, Waikanae is about an hour north from Wellington.  Waikanae can also be accessed from most North Island centres by bus. The two main coach companies are InterCity and Newmans.
