Pastoral Management
In 2002 the Worldwide Church of God, in conjunction with the establishment of the Trust Board, inaugurated a National Pastoral Team (NPT) to oversee that pastoral and training needs within the church in New Zealand were met.
The NPT sets pastoral policy for its pastors and elders in New Zealand, and funds their activities locally and nationally. The NPT is also responsible for instigating national training initiatives for the membership, overseeing training and discipling efforts within congregations, and both approves and funds training and travel of those involved in congregational pastoral support to conferences deemed to advance the work of the church.
While providing spiritual and ecclesiastical oversight of the congregations in New Zealand, overall spiritual guidance is provided from world headquarters in Glendora, California, USA through the International Representative for the Asia and South Pacific region, who is part of the Mission Development group headed by Mr Joseph Tkach, the denominational Pastor General.
Pastors of local congregations provide all local administration of the resources held by that congregation. Each works within a budget submitted to and approved by the NPT prior to the beginning of each calendar year.
