Festival 2011
The festival this year will be held at the El Rancho Christian Holiday Camp in Waikanae, about an hour's drive north of Wellington. It is situated on the picturesque Kapiti Coast (where more and more Wellingtonians are choosing to live). The Kapiti Coast (Paraparaumu, which is the largest centre is a short 10 minute drive from Waikanae) boasts lovely beaches (though the water will still be quite cool), boating, hiking, scenic drives, gliding, scenic flights, restaurants, etc.
Our move to Waikanae was necessitated by the Rugby World Cup, which coincides with our festival dates, placing pressure on venue and accommodation resources where matches are to be played.
The El Rancho camp, which we have often used for annual training weekends, will provide a very relaxed and even intimate site for the festival. We have block booked the whole of the Elm complex, its hall, lounges and accommodation. In all there are a total of 55 rooms in this complex and most festival-goers will be located here (other motel style accommodation, which costs a little more, is also available). It is expected most will take advantage of the opportunity to eat meals together in the Elm Dining Room.
