In 2002 the Worldwide Church of God, in line with administrative changes being implemented within the church around the world, moved to incorporate as a charitable trust and is now registered as “The Worldwide Church of God (New Zealand) Trust.” In February of that year the inaugural board met for the first time.
The initial task of the first Board was to set in place all core policy statements, oversee the structure of and staffing within the administrative part of the church, set up proper fiscal and investment strategies, provide financial reporting to congregations in line with previously set regional denominational directives, and to ensure the resourcing of pastoral and outreach activities within the church.
Members of the Board sit for terms of three years with the possibility of a further term, with six years being normally the maximum length of continuous service. Beginning in 2005 members began rotating off. Coincidentally (AGM, 2005) an extra position on the Board was also established.
