Auckland Outreach & Inreach
A number of service and outreach activities are being undertaken.
Small Groups
The Worldwide Church of God supports the forming of small groups where friends meet on a regular basis (usually weekly or fortnightly) for the uplifting, encouraging and training of its members. At the present time three or four small groups are operating in the Auckland area. One of these is our South Auckland small group, which meets in Weymouth every second Wednesday evening at 7:30pm. For details of these meetings please contact David Wong. Our other small groups rotate between different locations. For details of a group near you, please contact Rex Morgan.
Bible Study
The church holds a monthly Bible study, generally on the last Saturday morning of each month, at the Mt. Eden Senior Citizen's Club Hall, the same venue as for our weekly church services. The monthly Bible study begins at 11:30am and is followed by a shared BYO finger foood lunch before the afternoon church service. These studies comprise a verse-by-verse exposition of Bible books, on an interactive basis where questions and discussion by the participants are encouraged.
Bible in Schools
Two of our members are actively involved as Bible in Schools teachers, and one as a School chaplain. The congregation appreciates and supports the endeavours of the members who serve in this way, and gives them regular financial grants as well as providing Bibles to be handed out by the teachers to students in their classes needing them.
"Inside Life"
The congregation delivers 3,000 copies of the "Inside Life" publication to households in the area around where the church meets, as well as other selected areas of the city. This is an outreach effort to help and serve people in our community by sharing the good news of salvation with them via the printed word.
Other Outreach
Almost all the members of the congregation are involved in various other means of outreach. These include a member who works with budget counselling, members who work with Drug Arm, a boy scouts leader, a member involved in teaching English to immigrants, members working in opportunity shops, and members who play the piano and sing for senior citizens' rest homes. The congregation holds a monthly food bank collection and supports a child in Mali via World Vision.
